SILKOMED
SILKOMED is the registered trade name of the silicone elastomer
material used by RÜSCH in the medical sector. It is chemically
produced, primarily from inorganic raw materials.
The outstanding properties of SILKOMED are that it is physiologically
safe (suitable for implants) and non-ageing. The material
contains no substances which are extractable by water or tissue
fluid. SILKOMED is resistant to oxygen, ozone and UV rays,
and can withstand temperatures up to 200°C. SILKOMED is
tested pursuant to USPXXIII, Class VI and ISO 10993 / EN 30993
and is toxicologically safe.
A distinctive advantage of SILKOMED is its excellent water
and tissue repellence, so that adhesion to blood or tissue
matter is largely ruled out.
