WIRUTHAN
WIRUTHAN is the registered trade name for the thermoplastic
urethane elastomer used by RÜSCH in the medical sector.
It belongs to the group of polyether urethanes.
WIRUTHAN contains no plasticizers, so that extraction loss
occurs through contact with body fluids. There is consequently
practically no hardening of instruments made of WIRUTHAN,
even during prolonged applications.
WIRUTHAN materials are tested pursuant to USPXXIII, Class
VI and ISO 10993 / EN 30993. They are toxicologically safe.
WIRUTHAN maintains its elastic properties almost constantly
through a wide range of temperatures. They are virtually identical
at body temperature and room temperature. Even at -30°C
(-22°F), they still have elastic properties.
The excellent mechanical properties of WIRUTHAN enable the
production of thin catheters, with extremely smooth surfaces
and good chemical properties which counteract encrustation.
